Updates a' plenty

Apparently the rain hasn't taken the hint that I don't want to see it any more, and just won't leave... and with the rain has come my lack of updates, for which I do apologize!

Things at C-Horse have been zooming right along, with several things in the works for 2010 that I'll be very happy to report (I hope!) once they materialize!

P-man is in semi-work, and quite full of it! He feels great, and if only the ground would cease being a sloppy mess, we could get down to some real work. All in good time, I guess.

The C-Horse students haven't been slowed down at all by the rain. This weekend was an awesome little show at the fairgounds. Dressage / Flat class day was Saturday, with Nancy and Niki doing their first big-girl dressage test together, and the same for my new client (Nancy's sister, Lisa) and her mare Grace. Although the scores didn't reflect the joy experienced by everyone staying on and staying in the ring, we all had a blast (I think). What fun ladies (horses and people)!!

Maggie was next in her hunter on the flat classes, where she pulled off her first blue ribbon!!! She was riding better then ever, and I'm so proud she did so well! She continued the hot streak on Sunday for the over-fences division with two 3rd's out of a very competitive division. CONGRATS to her and Wiley!!!

WHAT A GREAT WAY TO END THE 2009 SEASON FOR C-HORSE!!!!

Video and pics will be posted soon of everyone. I'm pretty sure everyone's cameras are just now unthawing from the cold!

AND I'm happy to report that I am nearly done Christmas shopping! Here's to hoping you all are almost done too!

Happy Holidays!

Ok, Rain... we need to talk.

... I am hereby breaking up with you. Round up your doom and gloom and get out, you won't be bringing me down anymore.

Ok, so I live on a hill. At the TOP of a hill, and my back yard is holding water. Did I say I live at the TOP of a hill? I do. It's that bad. My poor ponies are stuck out in the rain and wind, being the feral ponies that they are. I feel so bad, but can't do anything about it. Luckily it's only a little bit bitterly cold.

But P's probably enjoying the lack of riding, although I really want to get on him to run through what we worked on with my mom. Can't wait!

And now for some seriously exciting news...

I'm now taking clients as the instructor/trainer at the Jordan Lake Equestrian Center. Their website is currently under construction, but I will definitely post it when it's up. The place is AMAZING with 14 stalls, wash stall, Nike footing in the arena, full course, AND.... stadium lights! It looks beautiful all lit up at night. Absolutely stunning. I can't wait to get P over there and jump around a bit.

For anyone that's interested, we are offering an introduction package for lessons where, when you buy 5, you get a 6th one FREE!

Anyway, I will have more updates about Jordan Lake later... and hopefully more updates about how the rain has let up a allowed me to ride!

Back to my roots and branching out...

Ok, finally an update about home, and the rest of stuff going on here at C-Horse.

First off, can we all just stand up and give a hand to Thanksgiving? I mean, come on -- what a great Holiday. Our's featured family, food, wine, good stories and lots of relaxing. I got to spend some quality time riding horses for my mom's clients (she's really lucky in that there's some really nice horse flesh she gets to sit on weekly), and riding my old man, Rockie.

Now, good ol' Rockstar may be slightly heavier then he was when I showed him, but he's still as big of a baby. Picture this - me having to hike next to the poor guy the whole second half of the trail ride cause he plumb wore himself out during the first half. There are several of us who've now had to hike him back to the trailer, thinking of making it some sort of exclusive club.

Anyway... what a fantastic break! The only sad note was just as we were getting ready to leave Sunday morning, we discovered our 15 year old cat, Chief, had passed away peacefully in his sleep. My family had Chief from the time he was a kitten, and he was the permanent fixture at our front door. The last couple of years it seems age has taken it's toll on the old man, as he grew a bit skinny, but he was always there early in the mornings to share my mom's cereal with her. Even after being gone for several years, it's hard to lose a long-time family member like Chief.

Although sad about Chiefy, I was excited to head back to see my four-legged kids in NC. One of my clients had been taking wonderful care of my 3 boys and Ellie, but I was happy to hear Ted's friendly nicker as we got out of the car.

My mom traveled back from Illinois to spend the week with us... She's currently fixing all the problems I have with P-monster... can't wait to sit on him after she's done! She frustrates me with her talents, because she can totally get through to horses in ways I can't seem to, but at least I do have her available to me!!!

Party is tonight for all the C-Horse crew!!! Can't wait for everyone to get together so we can enjoy good company and good food. And yes, my mom has done my portion of the cooking, so no one is at risk for food-poisoning. :)

Will definitely post pics from the party over the weekend.

Ciao, ciao!
